Beach conditions
Some mornings are peaceful. Some days El Push turns on.
The beach behind Arenas Negra is a living north-coast shoreline: turtle nests, black sand, shifting surf, and a local break that can go from tranquil to serious.
Daily from behind the house
Turtle nest check-ins that also show the real beach.
Ramon has been filming short morning check-ins behind the house as the turtle nests move closer to emergence. The clips are quiet, simple, and useful: you see the nests, the shoreline, the wave energy, and the actual mood of the beach that day.
One recent morning was T-47 days to emergence and the beach looked especially serene. That is exactly why these videos matter. They show the truth of this place better than a polished resort description ever could.

The honest answer
Is the beach behind the house swimmable?
Sometimes, yes. Sometimes, no. The better answer is that you should treat it like a real Atlantic beach, not a controlled resort lagoon. Look first, read the conditions, and choose the kind of beach day the ocean is offering.
Serene mornings happen
Some mornings the water behind the house looks peaceful, soft, and almost still. Those are the clips that make you want to take your coffee down to the sand and just watch the coast wake up.
It can change quickly
This is a real north-coast beach, so conditions can change day to day and even hour by hour. Always read the ocean before going in, and never assume yesterday's water is today's water.
Floatation helps
Ramon usually enjoys this beach with a boogie board or longboard: a small floatation device or a large one. It is often more of an active-water beach than a passive swim spot.

The local break
Locals call it El Push.
The break behind the house is an underground favorite. When it is at its peak, El Push can put out five-star waves that draw riders from around the island.
That is part of what makes this beach special, and also why the swimmability question deserves an honest answer. Some days are for floating. Some days are for boogie boards, longboards, or watching from the sand.

Watch the turtle nest check-in playlist.
The playlist is the best ongoing asset: it builds the turtle story over time while showing guests what the shoreline actually looks like in different conditions.
When the ocean is active
Choose the right beach day.
If the beach behind the house is too energetic for your group, Playa Palmas Altas is a protected cove about five minutes away and is usually the calmer choice for younger swimmers. The point is not to force one beach to be every kind of beach. Let the ocean tell you the plan.
